Well, I wouldn’t say I am “qualified” but I do know what I am talking about. I’m going to try to help. Plus advice is someone’s thoughts about a situation, I’m not guaranteeing my advice will help anyone. But I’ll try as best I can.

Get him help. Whether it’s through a church organization, AA group, etc. A lot of churches offer AA.

I’ve had this problem in the past as well. You are afraid of getting hurt, right? Well, to be honest, trying preventing yourself from pain also can cause pain if that makes any sense. Try to let your walls down. Slowly. Good luck :)
